Subject: CCIR President - Candidacy for the General Council of WCF 2022

 Friend

Dear  ,

It is my pleasure and honour to inform you that I had the privilege to work as a member of the World Chambers Federation General Council in the current mandate and I have all the time been a strong supporter of World Chambers Federation (WCF), its strategy and priorities. It has also allowed me to get involved in the exchange of information and best practices, and also to participate in the debates of the global business community in an attempt to identify the best solutions for overcoming all the obstacles and challenges it faces.

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania (CCIR) is paying special attention to supporting the business environment in an ever-changing world. Beside the national challenges, our chamber has focused intensively on the need to develop rapid and decisive solutions that allow companies to survive, adapt, adjust and reshape in order to cope with the recent Covid-19 pandemic, armed conflicts, digital transformation, supply chains shortages, climate change etc. CCIR has also been a strong supporter of the role played in the global economy by SMEs, especially by taking into account the flexibility of this sector to extend their operations worldwide.

The impact that the outbreak of the Covid-19 Pandemic had on the economy required a rapid intervention of all decision-making factors in Romania in order to perfect a national recovery strategy. After consulting the business environment, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania proposed to the Government of Romania a plan of 73 measures necessary to be implemented on the economic, financial, investment, labour market and agricultural levels, a large part of them being adopted and put into practice by the authorities.

As we all know, the recent armed attack of Russia over Ukraine is taking place on Romania's border, with serious effects on the European and even global economy. In this context, Romania has a very important role in the global geopolitical ecosystem, and the CCIR has chosen to be actively involved in supporting the Ukrainian business environment, as well as Ukrainian citizens. Thus, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania has organised in partnership with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Ukraine the event “Opportunities offered by the Association Agreement and the Deep Free Trade Area and Comprehensive EU-Ukraine for the business community” and also started a twinning project with the Odessa Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Based on our experience as the main co-organizer of the first edition of the Three Seas Initiative Business Forum and the success of this event, I intend to continue to promote the developing of other similar regional initiatives for the benefit of the business environment. Therefore, I would like to emphasize my commitment to support the creation of various frameworks suitable for debates on regional interconnected projects that would facilitate the development of economic dialogue oriented on the priorities of the World Chambers Federation.

I am confident that the experience and hard work I intend to bring, along with my ability to personally provide national and regional economic insights on various sectors and industries are strong arguments for my candidacy for WCF General Council. In order to achieve an open global economy, as promoted by WCF, I intend to encourage global trade reform, digital transformation, sustainable development, workforce skills development and improvement of living standards.

From such a position, I will be able to continue to promote my vision for a united chambers system with a stronger role in the world economic development and for a true and strong chamber voice worldwide.

I therefore forward my candidature for the General Council, together with my commitment to continue to contribute in a consistent manner to the WCF projects and initiatives, to promote its strategy and priorities among the World Chambers and business communities, in order to build solid partnerships for mutual benefits.

In accordance to the above-mentioned arguments, I would like to kindly ask you to support with your vote my candidacy for the General Council of the World Chamber Federation, and I present for your kind analysis the short version of my Curriculum Vitae and my achievements.

Yours sincerely,

Mihai Daraban
